ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi will discuss precautionary measures against COVID-19 pandemic with Islamic scholars in a meeting tomorrow.
In a consultative meeting, the president will hold a meeting with clerics for precautionary measures during prayers in the month of Ramzan to curb the coronavirus from spreading.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri has initiated to make the meeting successful in order to finalize a complete strategy for religious gatherings during the holy month. He met caretakers of the sublime temples in the connection of the upcoming meeting with the president.
The caretakers of the sublime temples assured their participation in the meeting. They also demanded the federal government to grant permission for performing religious rituals after adopting all necessary precautions. Qadri assured that their demands will be considered during the consultative meeting.
Earlier on Thursday, President Alvi hoped that the Pakistani nation would successfully sail through the crisis of COVID-19 pandemic as multiple challenges in the past. The president said that the coronavirus had emerged as a global challenge and being a developing economy.
“Pakistan could not give relief package worth trillions of dollars like the developed countries; however, the government was providing cash assistance worth Rs12,000 each among 12 million worst-hit families to help them feed their families,” he added.
