AJK extends lockdown till April 21 amid rising COVID-19 cases

MUZAFFARABAD: The government of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) has extended the lockdown till 21st April due to rising COVID-19 cases.
Minister for Population Welfare and Information Technology Dr. Mustafa Bashir at a briefing today made the announcement. Bashir mentioned that it was decided the suspected cases would be asked to self-quarantine at their respective homes.
Kashmir has so far reported at least 43 positive cases of the novel virus but no patient has passed away. Last week, Punjab and Balochistan government also extended the lockdown across the provinces till 21st April. The already imposed restrictions were scheduled to end on 14th April but now the lockdowns have been extended till the designated date.
All the measures being taken to curb the virus will be implemented strictly during the lockdown. All shopping malls, public transport, markets, parks, restaurants, and tourist-spots will remain closed until the designated date.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan rose to 5,812 after new cases were reported in the country. Sindh reported 1,518 cases, 2,825 in Punjab, 800 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 231 in Balochistan, 233 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 131 in Islamabad.
The COVID-19 has claimed 100 lives since its outbreak in the country, which includes 35 in Sindh, 35 in KP, 02 in Balochistan, and 03 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
