44-year-old dies due to novel COVID-19 in Lahore

LAHORE: A 44-year-old man dies in Lahore due to novel coronavirus on Wednesday, raising the provincial death tally to 16.
According to sources, the 44-year-old man, Saleem, a resident of Lahore’s Mughalpura was brought in to Jinnah Hospital after showing serious symptoms of being infected with the COVID-19.
The medical superintendent of Jinnah Hospital confirmed the death today, adding that the patient was shifted to an isolated quarantine center of the hospital four days prior to death.
He said the patient had tested positive for COVID-19. and was also suffering from prior illnesses. Meanwhile, the Punjab Health Ministry on Wednesday confirmed that another 78 people had tested positive for novel COVID-19 in the province.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has crossed 2107 after 78 new cases were reported in the province, raising the provincial death tally to 16.
The confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan reached 4,204, according to the National Command and Control Centre’s latest statistics released on Wednesday.
As many as 208 new cases of the coronavirus emerged across the country during last 24 hours. So far 467 patients have recovered from the disease, whereas the death toll has surged to 60.
