KP to release 121 Taftan returnees tomorrow: Taimur Jhagra

PESHAWAR: Health and Finance Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Taimur Jhagra has said that the province will release 121 Taftan returned patients tomorrow (Friday) after completing quarantine in Dera Ismail Khan and Peshawar.
Taimur Jhagra took to Twitter and said, “As the country battles the virus, there will be many low moments, but we must celebrate the successes along the way, and this is as big as they come.”

Tomorrow KP will release 121 Taftan returned #CoronavirusOutbreak suspects after completing quarantine / negative test in DIK & Peshawar.

Commenting on the returned patients from Taftan, he said, “Out of 121 pilgrims that came to the province from the Pakistan-Iran border at Taftan, several were from Punjab, Sindh and Islamabad.”

1. We talk of acting in the national interest during this crisis; here is what CM @IMMahmoodKhan & KP Govt decided. Note that of 121 Taftan returnees to KP, 13 were from Punjab, Sindh & Islamabad. We did not abandon these people just because they were mistakenly transported here. pic.twitter.com/5sRIBGCGgt

“We did not abandon these people just because they were mistakenly transported here. We kept these people from Islamabad, Pindi, Karachi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jhang and Mandi Bahauddin because it was the right thing to do, despite our limited space and facilities,” he said.

He further said, “Because once here transporting them back would have exposed many other people across Pakistan to risk.” Taimur Jhagra further said that all the provinces must act in the national interest not just in self-interest.
Coronavirus has claimed lives of almost 26 people and has affected more than 2,000 people across the country. However, locally transmitted cases of coronavirus are less as compared to patients with travel history. Sindh and Punjab remained the worst affected provinces from the deadly virus.
