LAHORE: Nation remembers Major Raja Aziz Bhatti on the 54th martyrdom anniversary who sacrificed his life for the defence of the country in 1965 war.
During 1965 war, when India attacked Pakistan with the largest ever a number of tanks, Major Raja Aziz Bhatti as Company Commander chose to move with his forward platoon under incessant artillery and tank attacks for five days and nights in the defence of the strategic BRB canal.

Bhatti was hit by an enemy tank which resulted in his martyrdom. He fought with the enemies for 48 hours and caused great losses to Indian troops.
Born in Hong Kong, Raja Aziz Bhatti moved to Pakistan before it became independent in 1947 and lived in the village of Ladian, in the district of Gujrat. There he enlisted with the newly formed Pakistani Army and was commissioned to the Punjab Regiment.
Bhatti was in 1928, he was the commander of Pakistani troops in the 1965 Pak-Indo war at the Barki sector in Lahore. Raja Aziz Bhatti was rewarded with the prestigious Nishan-e Haidar for his services to Pakistan.
