NDMA begins distributing protective equipment to frontline medics

ISLAMABAD:National Disaster Management Authority’s  (NDMA) Chairman Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal has said that the authority has started distributing protective kits to all frontline medics working to control the spread of the coronavirus in the country.
The NDMA Chairman said the protective kits are being provided to doctors, nurses, paramedics, management staff, janitorial staff and lab workers stands in frontline against the pandemic.
Afzal further said by the next week all workers will all have protective gear, he added. He said workers in Islamabad have already been given protective gear and these should be sufficient for three weeks, Afzal added.
He further added that a complaint cell has been established at the NDMA office Islamabad, adding that doctors can call and get more shielding apparatus, if needed.
He said that they have already given the gear to Gilgit-Baltistan and tomorrow Azad Jammu and Kashmir will get it, said Afzal.
The NDMA Chairman said he will talk to the chief secretaries of all the provinces in the country and make bundles of the protective equipment to work out who needs.
He said about 1,500 to 2,000 people soon get the kits in Punjab provinces.he added the equipment were all donated by China.
