Suspected rapist, murderer of 8-year-old girl arrested in Mardan

MARDAN: Police have arrested the suspected rapist and murderer of an eight-year-old girl in Mardan’s Sheikh Maltoon Town today (Saturday).

Addressing a press conference, DPO Sajjad Khan has said that the suspect has also admitted to his crime, adding that he was ashamed of what he did.

He also said that the girl was missing from Thursday and her body was found in a sack on Friday. The shopkeeper identifies the accused who bought the sack on which he was arrested.

DPO Sajjad Khan further said that the accused put her body in a sack and then threw it in a stormwater drain near her house. A joint investigation team had been formed to investigate the case, the police added.

Referring to the post-mortem report, DPO Sajjad Khan said, “The post-mortem report revealed that the victim had been raped. The accused is a neighbor of the girl who has also married twice.
