China reports no new local coronavirus cases for third day

BEIJING: China reported no new local cases of the OVID-19 diseases for a third consecutive day Saturday, but confirmed the highest yet increase in infections from abroad.

The rate of new local cases of the OVID-19  has been slowing for weeks in China, while the rest of the world jumps up steps to effort and fight the rampant pandemic.

The World Health Organization lauds China’s achievement in controlling the epidemic in the central city of Wuhan, where the virus first reported in late 2019.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said Wuhan gives hope for the whole world that even the most harsh situation can be turned around.

Some 56 million people in Hubei province Wuhan and surrounding were locked down in late January, however, officials are increasingly easing the travel limited as cases have dwindled.

However, China has stepped up controls to tackle coronavirus cases brought in from other countries, with more than 40 cases reported Saturday — the highest one-day tally yet.

In total, 269 coronavirus cases have now been transporting into China from other countries. China is forcing international arrivals to go away 14-day quarantine, while the authorities said it would limit passenger numbers on inbound international flights coming into the country.

There have been more than 81,000 coronavirus cases in China, however, the health officials said only 6,013 were still sick due to coronavirus infection.

The number of deaths in China has also dawdling significantly, with the National Health Commission registered only three new fatalities, the lowest daily increase since it started publishing figures in January.
