Sindh’s govt employees’ salaries deducted to combat COVID-19

KARACHI: Sindh government has deducted salaries of its public employees in order to utilize the funds for the treatment of COVID-19 patients across the province.
The salaries of Sindh’s ministers, advisers, assistants, and public employees have been deducted worth Rs1.78 billion due to the treatment of emerging cases of the coronavirus that has reached 245 in Sindh.
Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah earlier announced to provide two million ration bags to the needy people across the province due to the partial lockdown of coronavirus.
A warehouse to store ration bags would be established from where onward the supply of the bags all over Sindh would be made. The quality of food items and their quantity as agreed by the committee would be ensured. However, it was decided that the ration bag would have one month’s worth of food items.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also released Rs7.21 billion to contain and combat the threat of COVID-19.
This includes Rs6.9 billion to the health department and the rest of the amount to Commissioner Sukkur where thousands of patients are under quarantine after arriving through the Taftan border with Iran.
