KARACHI: Sindh government on Thursday decided that all remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Karachi will be held without any spectators amid fears of coronavirus
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah issued the directives imposing a ban on spectators in cricket stadium for all matches to be played in Karachi. He said spectators will only be allowed during today’s match, whereas all upcoming matches will be held in a closed stadium.
CM Sindh said the provincial government is hosting PSL matches in Karachi but cannot risk lives of their citizens due to the spread of coronavirus. He announced that people will not be allowed to spectate tomorrow’s match in National Stadium.

The spokesperson to the provincial government, Murtaza Wahab said in a Twitter message that Sindh authorities have decided to hold remaining PSL matches without any crowd. He added, “This decision has been made after consultation with all stakeholders including the Pakistan Cricket Board.”
Karachi is scheduled to host four more matches of PSL tournament from March 13, 14, 15 and 17 which will be held as scheduled but without any spectators.
The management of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement, “Following government advice, the upcoming #HBLPSLV matches in Karachi will be played in front of an empty National Stadium. The precautionary decision has been made to better protect the health of spectators, players, officials & media.”
All unused tickets will be refunded as per the PCB’s ticketing policy, whereas, more details will follow in due course.
