ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah has said that the birth of girls in our country was not considered a good omen even today.
IHC resumed the hearing of a petition filed against the Aurat March which will be held on Sunday where IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah conducted the hearing in which he remarked that the birth of girls in our country was not considered good even today.
The judge also remarked that the slogans displayed by women during the Aurat march their rights granted in Islam too.
Giving remarks on the petition, the Chief Justice inquired whether we could interpret the slogans of women on our own, while the first person who accepted Islam was a woman.
Referring to yesterday’s press conference held on accounts of the Aurat March, Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that women at the press conference said that they were demanding their rights given in Islam. What should they do more to interpret this cause?
Chief Justice Athar Minallahasked the counselor of the petion who ended the tradition of burying children alive? The petitioner’s counsel said that Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) had abolished the practice.
On this, the Chief Justice said that even in our society, the birth of girls was not considered a good omen. Later, the court reserved the decision on whether or not the petition was worth hearing.
It should be remembered that the High Court earlier summoned the petition against the holding of the Women’s March and reiterated its earlier statements that the meeting could not be stopped under the constitution.
The petition filed by Judicial Activism Council Chairman Azhar Siddique claimed that anti-state parties were funding the march with the aim of spreading public outrage.
