California: Content creators around the world could soon receive a welcome boost as YouTube is reportedly testing a major change to its minimum payment threshold, potentially allowing eligible creators to receive payments once their earnings reach $20 instead of the existing $100.
According to media reports, the video-sharing platform is currently testing the proposed feature among a limited number of users in the United States, India, and Indonesia. The initiative aims to make payments more accessible to creators who earn relatively small amounts and often have to wait longer to receive their earnings under the existing system.
Under YouTube’s current Partner Program payment structure, creators generally receive their earnings once their account balance reaches the minimum payment threshold of $100.
If the proposed change is implemented, reducing the threshold to $20 could enable smaller and emerging creators to access their accumulated earnings sooner, without having to wait until they reach the previous payment limit.
However, the feature remains in the testing phase, and YouTube has not yet made any official announcement confirming its worldwide rollout.
