Islamabad: Pakistani nationals living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been advised to exercise caution when sharing social media content related to demonstrations and public gatherings. Promoting protest activities or encouraging people to participate in them without the required authorization from the relevant authorities could lead to legal consequences.

Under UAE law, individuals who announce or promote demonstrations or public gatherings online without the necessary permission may face imprisonment and fines ranging from AED 200,000 to AED 1 million, according to the legal provisions cited in reports on the matter.

The law also imposes severe penalties for online activities that incite people to overthrow the government or suspend the Constitution and the country’s laws. Such offences may carry penalties including life imprisonment, depending on the applicable legal provisions and circumstances of the case.

What Pakistani Residents Should Keep in Mind
Pakistanis living in the UAE are advised to understand the relevant legal requirements before sharing posters, messages, announcements or invitations related to protests on social media. They should also avoid forwarding unverified information that could lead to misunderstandings or potential legal complications.

Pakistani nationals who have complaints concerning employment, accommodation or other personal matters are encouraged to approach the relevant government authorities, their employers or the Embassy of Pakistan in the UAE rather than promoting protests on social media.

Residents Urged to Comply With UAE Laws
Pakistani residents are advised to comply with local laws and regulations and use digital platforms responsibly. Before posting or sharing content online, they should consider the potential legal implications of their actions to avoid inadvertently exposing themselves to legal difficulties.

Understanding the rules governing online content and public gatherings can help residents make informed decisions and avoid activities that may violate local laws
