ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced cuts in the prices of petroleum products, reducing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs4.21 per litre and petrol by Rs1.93 per litre.
Following the reduction, the ex-depot price of high-speed diesel has been lowered from Rs418.96 to Rs414.75 per litre, while the price of petrol has been reduced from Rs392.05 to Rs390.12 per litre.
According to the Petroleum Division, the revised prices will take effect from September 24, 2026. The new rates have been determined under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism, taking into account developments in the international oil market.
In the previous pricing review, the government had reduced the price of diesel by Rs3.12 per litre, bringing it to Rs418.96 per litre. The price of petrol was also cut by Rs1.70 per litre to Rs392.05 per litre.
Meanwhile, crude oil prices rose by nearly 2% in the international market on Wednesday. Traders remained focused on statements and potential developments surrounding the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States as the global oil market remained volatile.
