Iran and Oman have reached agreements on the delimitation of the Strait of Hormuz and the sharing of revenues generated from the strategic waterway, according to the spokesperson for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), According to semi-official Tasnim news agency.
The IRGC spokesperson said both countries would receive a share of the revenues from the Strait of Hormuz.
He also accused the United States of obstructing negotiations between Tehran and Muscat, resulting in delays to the talks.
The spokesperson further warned that Iran would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz if the United States refused to accept its conditions.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said economic blockades would fail just as military attacks had failed, arguing that economic pressure would not achieve anything. He said resolving disputes through negotiations and mutual cooperation remained Iran’s priority.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf said the country must preserve its strength to safeguard the gains achieved during the war.
The Strait of Hormuz is a vital global energy route through which a significant share of the world’s oil and gas supplies passes.
