US Special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad meets COAS Bajwa, FM Qureshi

RAWALPINDI: US special Representative for Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters (GHQ) today (Friday).

According to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR), Zalmay Khalilzad and COAS Bajwa exchanged views on matters pertaining to mutual interests, regional security and Afghanistan reconciliation process.

Zalmay Khalilzad appreciated Pakistan’s role in the Afghanistan peace process, the press release added.

On the other hand, US Special Envoy called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad.

Zalmay Khalilzad updated FM Qureshi on the ongoing peace talks with Taliban.

At the occasion, FM Qureshi said that Pakistan will continue supporting peace efforts in Afghanistan as a joint responsibility.

Matters related to joint efforts for restoring peace in Afghanistan and current situation in the region also came under discussion.
