KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened Friday on a firm footing, with the benchmark KSE‑100 Index advancing 842.92 points to 177,734.68 in early trade.

The rebound followed Thursday’s marginal decline, when the market slipped after an initial buying spree.

Market Gains Momentum

At the start of Friday’s session, the broader All‑Share Index rose 553 points to 107,675.87, while the KSE‑30 added 212 points to 52,679.55.

The KMI‑30 climbed 846 points to 250,415.73, and the banking index surged 367 points to 50,504.04. Trading activity reflected renewed investor interest, with volumes exceeding 27.9 million shares and a value of Rs1.28 billion. Out of 565 active symbols, 259 advanced, 67 declined and 239 remained unchanged.

Sentiment and Outlook

Analysts noted that the market’s early strength was driven by bargain hunting and selective accumulation after Thursday’s mild correction.
The rebound suggests investors are cautiously optimistic, even as external pressures such as global oil prices and regional uncertainties continue to loom.

The PSX’s resilience in Friday’s opening session underscores a tentative return of confidence, though market watchers emphasise that sustainability will depend on fiscal clarity and the government’s handling of inflationary challenges.
