Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to add sixteen Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to its fleet as part of a major expansion of its air operations.

According to officials, PIA plans to induct 16 aircraft into its fleet this year, with the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner expected to be purchased next month.

Officials said the national airline plans to acquire around 64 Boeing 787 aircraft over the next eight years as part of its long-term fleet expansion strategy.

The aircraft will be purchased from the United States, officials said.

A Boeing 787 Dreamliner is estimated to cost between $248 million and $355 million, depending on the model and configuration.

Earlier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) approved a performance bonus for its employees.

The decision was announced in the 102nd board of directors meeting held on Friday, and the first to follow the transition to private management.

The board of directors of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Ltd (PIACL) has approved a performance bonus equivalent to one month’s basic salary for airline employees.

A spokesman for PIA said in a press release that the strategic decision reflects the new leadership’s immediate priority to invest in human capital and align the workforce with the airline’s broader transformation and growth strategy.
