LAHORE: Police have arrested a named suspect in connection with the alleged torture of a 10-year-old boy in the Gulshan-e-Ravi area, following a formal complaint filed by the child’s family.
The accused, identified as Hassan Raza, was taken into custody after authorities registered a case against him on Tuesday.
The boy, identified as Hafeez-ur-Rehman (10), allegedly suffered physical abuse during an altercation that began over a broken car window.
According to the family’s complaint, Hassan Raza allegedly assaulted the boy with a water pipe following a dispute regarding damage to a vehicle window.
The incident prompted immediate intervention by law enforcement after the family reported the matter to police.
“The child sustained injuries during the alleged assault,” said a police spokesperson. “Immediate legal action was initiated upon receipt of the complaint.”
Case Registration and Arrest
According to details gathered by MM News, a formal first information report (FIR) has been registered under case number 898/26 at the relevant police station.
The arrest was made following the DIG Operations’ directive to take swift action in cases involving violence against children.
Police officials confirmed that Hassan Raza was apprehended and placed in custody within hours of the complaint being filed.
Besides these, the arrested accused has been handed over to the Investigation Wing for interrogation and further legal proceedings. Investigators are examining evidence collected from the scene and gathering statements from witnesses and the victim’s family.
“The case is being treated with utmost seriousness given the age of the victim,” said the DIG Operations spokesperson.
“All available resources have been deployed to ensure a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action.”
