LAHORE: Two women arrested on theft and fraud charges died en route to hospital during a police transfer in the Township area, authorities confirmed today.
The deceased have been identified as Anmol and Amina, who were apprehended by citizens following allegations of theft and fraud. Upon being handed over to police, a formal case was registered and both suspects were transferred to the Investigation Wing for questioning.
During their reported transfer to Liton Road police station, both women experienced sudden health deterioration, according to police officials. Emergency medical assistance was immediately provided, and they were transported to hospital; however, both died before reaching the facility.
Police records indicate that the deceased women had a documented history of alleged drug use, which may have been a contributing factor to their medical emergency.
Investigation and Response
The bodies of both women have been transferred to hospital for legal formalities and post-mortem examination. Law enforcement officials stated that a comprehensive review of all circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
“All aspects of the incident are being reviewed and a transparent, impartial and merit-based inquiry is being conducted to establish the facts,” police stated in an official statement.
The investigation is expected to determine the exact cause of death and the sequence of events that led to the medical crisis during the custodial transfer.
