Three people, including an uncle and his nephew, were killed after a speeding truck ran over motorcyclists on the Super Highway near Jamali Bridge while heading towards Ayub Goth on Sunday.

According to police, the truck (registration No. JZ-0111) went out of the driver’s control and struck a motorcycle (registration No. KLS-0021), critically injuring its three riders.

The deceased were identified as Habib Iqbal, 30, Waqar Saleem, 50, and Adeel Ghulam Mustafa, 28.

Police said Waqar and Habib were uncle and nephew. Both were residents of Ahsanabad and worked in the furniture business. Habib was married, while Waqar is survived by two daughters and a son.

The victims were on their way to work when the fatal accident occurred.

SHO Site Super Highway Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz said the accident took place at a U-turn on the Super Highway between Jamali Bridge and Ayub Goth.

He said the truck’s brakes reportedly failed while the driver was negotiating the U-turn, causing the vehicle to run over the motorcyclists.

Police responded immediately after the crash, impounded the truck, and arrested the driver, Shahbaz Abdul Khaliq. Further legal proceedings are underway.
