GILGIT: The Alpine Club of Pakistan has successfully completed its second Women’s Khusrgang expedition, with eight Pakistani women climbers from across the country successfully reaching the 6,040-meter-high Khusrgang peak.

The milestone highlights the growing strength, courage, and professional mountaineering capabilities of Pakistani women on the world’s challenging high-altitude terrain.

During the expedition, eight Pakistani women climbers from across the nation successfully scaled the 6,040-meter-high Khusrgang peak, setting a new benchmark for women’s participation in high-altitude climbing.

The accomplished team included climbers representing Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Islamabad—showcasing the depth of talent and determination present throughout Pakistan. The expedition was led by Bibi Afzon, with renowned high-altitude guides Ali Muhammad Sadpara, Sadiq Hussain Sadpara, and Ilyas Hushay providing essential technical support throughout the challenging ascent.

Operational duties during the climb were carried out by Quaid Shugri, who handled form-fixing on Khusrgang—an important task that contributed to the team’s safe and successful progress toward the summit.

Alpine Club of Pakistan Secretary General Ayaz Shugri extended his congratulations to the climbers, praising the achievement as clear proof that Pakistani women are equally capable in terms of courage, determination, and professional skill. He described the successful summit as a significant step forward for the promotion of women’s mountaineering in Pakistan, adding that the Alpine Club will continue working to create further opportunities for women climbers to demonstrate their abilities at national and international levels.

This latest expedition reinforces the growing momentum of women’s high-altitude sports in Pakistan and underscores the nation’s expanding legacy in the sport of mountaineering.
