WASHINGTON: Donald Trump’s fellow Republicans in the U.S. Senate came under new pressure on Monday to require evidence and new records in his impeachment trial following a news report that a former top adviser, John Bolton, wrote a book manuscript criticizing Trump’s versions of events in the affair with Ukraine.
Republican Senator Mitt Romney, a longtime Trump opponent, said there was an increasing possibility that at least four Republican senators would vote to call on Bolton to appear in the case, which would allow Democrats the necessary votes to prosecute the former national security adviser.
