FAISALABAD/JHANG: At least one woman was killed and dozens of people were injured in separate rain and windstorm-related incidents in Faisalabad and Jhang on Friday, rescue officials said.
According to a Rescue spokesperson, seven incidents were reported in Faisalabad during strong winds and heavy rain. Fifteen people sustained injuries in six separate incidents after walls of buildings collapsed in different parts of the city.
In another incident in the Ghaziabad area, a woman lost her life when the roof of a house caved in due to the severe weather.
Rescue teams rushed to the affected areas, pulled the injured from the debris and shifted them to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, in Jhang city and its surrounding areas, nine people, including five women, were injured as strong winds and rain battered the region.
Rescue sources said five people, including two women, were injured in separate incidents after signboards, walls, rooftops and solar panel structures collapsed due to the storm.
In the suburban area of Mandi Shah Jewana, four people, including three women, were injured when the roof of a house collapsed during the windstorm.
Rescue officials remained on alert as adverse weather conditions continued to affect several parts of the region.
