Petrol prices in Pakistan are expected to increase by around Rs4.75 per liter in the upcoming review, while high-speed diesel (HSD) is likely to remain largely unchanged.
The proposed adjustment is being driven by rising international oil prices and higher refinery costs, with final approval still pending from the authorities. The development comes at a time of growing economic strain and an already elevated oil import bill.
Last Thursday, the government increased petrol prices by Rs6.51 per liter and HSD by Rs19.39 per liter. Following the revision, petrol now stands at Rs399.86 per liter, while HSD is priced at Rs399.58 per liter.
Cumulatively, since February 28, petrol prices in Pakistan have increased by approximately Rs149 per liter. This sustained upward trend has been largely influenced by global supply disruptions, including regional tensions that have pushed international oil prices higher.
The continued rise in fuel costs is expected to add further pressure on inflation, transportation expenses, and overall cost of living, potentially deepening economic challenges for households and businesses.
