PCB launches recovery campaign against defaulters

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reported to have initiated a recovery campaign targeting defaulters, including notices served to several Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises over outstanding dues, MM News learnt on Wednesday.

According to multiple sources, the campaign aims to recover pending payments from multiple parties, with a particular focus on ensuring that the initial PSL franchises clear their franchise fees in full.

Notices have been dispatched to the original franchises, directing them to deposit the complete fee amounts owed to the board. Several franchises have already complied and deposited the outstanding sums, officials said.

The move comes as the PCB itself awaits significant receivables. The board is yet to receive nearly Rs400 million related to the 10th edition of the PSL, which remains pending from various stakeholders.

MMNews has learnt that in addition, billions of rupees remain outstanding from a former broadcaster, a dispute that has contributed to delays in finalising the board’s accounts.

“The accounts could not be finalised due to the substantial amount still owed by the former broadcast partner and other pending receivables,” a PCB official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The recovery drive marks one of the board’s more assertive steps in recent years to address its balance sheet ahead of the next financial cycle. The PCB has not publicly disclosed the names of the franchises or entities served notices, nor the total amount recovered so far.

Board officials said the process is ongoing and further updates will be shared once the outstanding amounts are reconciled.
