11 US troops wounded in Iran’s attack on Iraq base: US Command

At least 11 members of the US troop were wounded in the Iranian attack on two Iraqi bases where US troops were deployed, US Central Command said.

US Central Command Spokesperson, Captain Bill Urban in a statement said, “While no US service members were killed in the January 8 Iranian attack on Al Asad Airbase, several were treated for concussion symptoms from the blast and are still being assessed.”

The spokesperson further said, “In the days following the attack, out of an abundance of caution, some service members were taken to US facilities in Germany or Kuwait for “follow-on screening.”

 “When deemed fit for duty, the service members are expected to return to Iraq following screening,” he added.

The attack was retaliation for a US drone strike in Baghdad on January 3 that killed the commander of the elite Quds Force of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani.

According to the previous statements from Donald Trump and US military the strike caused significant material damage and no casualties.
