Iqrar ul Hassan Syed, a prominent Pakistani journalist and host of the investigative show Sar-e-Aam on ARY News, has recently made headlines for announcing his intentions to enter the political arena.

This development appears to be a fresh escalation from earlier hints in early October, when he discussed forming a new political platform. Below is a breakdown of the key details based on recent reports and his own statements.

In interviews with Urdu Point, Iqrar first outlined plans for a “people-centric” political party focused on empowering the common man, professionals, and educated youth.

He emphasized breaking away from dynastic and personality-driven politics, drawing loose comparisons to models like the U.S. system or even MQM’s early structure, but insisted his approach would prioritize meritocracy and internal democracy.

However, he also clarified that he wouldn’t form it “for himself” but as a duty to shape public thought, and he has no plans to contest elections or hold office himself.

Iqrar escalated his rhetoric in social media posts, swearing on the Quran that he will never enter “practical politics,” run for election, or take any governmental, administrative, or party position.

And he reiterated his goal of launching a “democratic political party” built on institutional principles, where youth can elect leaders and rise to roles like party chairman or even prime minister without reliance on family ties or elite endorsements.

On X, reactions range from mockery (e.g., calling him a “foolish man” misunderstanding dynastic politics) to skepticism about his planted role in public discourse.

His posts today have sparked heated replies, with over 700 on one thread alone

Iqrar, born in 1976, has been a fixture in Pakistani media since 2006, rising from reporter to ARY News anchor. Known for bold exposes on Sar-e-Aam (e.g., confronting fake spiritual leaders in 2024), he’s controversial for his personal life (multiple marriages) and perceived biases.

This isn’t his first flirtation with politics; he’s criticized PTI and others in the past, but today’s announcements mark a clearer pivot.

Whether this evolves into a formal party or remains a youth awareness drive is unclear, but it’s generating buzz amid Pakistan’s polarized landscape.

Who is Iqrar Ul Hassan’s alleged third wife Aroosa Khan?
