In October last year, Shehroze Kashif made history by becoming the youngest Pakistani to summit all 14 of the world’s highest peaks. Following his achievement, he received numerous promises of support from government officials. However, as often happens in Pakistan, many of those promises have yet to materialize.

Now, Shehroze is voicing his frustration over what he describes as the government’s failure to fulfill repeated commitments.

My government promised support, but all was forgotten. I sold my land, my car, and remain in debt from past expeditions. How can you do this to someone who raised Pakistan’s flag on all 14 eight-thousanders? @MaryamNSharif @CMShehbaz @TararAttaullah please look into this! pic.twitter.com/wMhwPxxVcS

“The government promised me a cash prize several times, but everyone has forgotten,” Shehroze wrote on X.

“I sold my land, my car, and I’m still in debt from past expeditions. How can you do this to someone who raised Pakistan’s flag on all 14 eight-thousanders?”

Summiting all 14 “eight-thousanders” — peaks over 8,000 meters — is considered the ultimate mountaineering achievement. Climbers must pass through “death zones,” where oxygen levels are too low to sustain human life for long periods.

Shehroze began his climbing journey early. At age 17, he summited Broad Peak, earning the nickname The Broad Boy.
