The reputable American magazine Bloomberg has stated that Pakistan is among the few countries whose bankruptcy risks have significantly decreased, and Pakistan’s performance ranks second among the world’s emerging economies.

According to a report by the state news agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), Bloomberg’s latest data shows that Pakistan is among those few countries that have shown the greatest reduction in bankruptcy concerns.

According to Bloomberg, Pakistan’s performance ranked second among emerging economies worldwide — only Turkey is ahead of Pakistan.

In the past 15 months (from June 2024 to September 2025), Pakistan’s bankruptcy risk has improved remarkably by 2,200 points. This is evidence of Pakistan’s sustainable economic recovery, as the country is the only economy that has shown consistent improvement in every quarter.

In contrast, improvement in countries like South Africa, El Salvador, and others has been minimal, while risks have increased in countries such as Egypt, Nigeria, and Argentina. This improvement is a sign that investors’ confidence in Pakistan is being restored.

The key factors include economic stability, structural reforms, timely debt repayments, implementation of the IMF program, and positive ratings by international rating agencies (S&P, Fitch, Moody’s). These are signals to investors that Pakistan is now emerging from bankruptcy concerns as a stable, confident, and reform-driven country.
