Met Office predicts light rain in Karachi starting tonight

The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain in Karachi from night till October 2, the media reported on Monday. 

As per the report, other parts of Sindh will also receive rain with thunderstorms.

Earlier, the Met Office had said that the weather in Karachi will remain hot and dry today, with the maximum temperature likely to reach 38 to 40 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, the current temperature is recorded at 31 degrees Celsius, while the humidity is 60 percent. Winds are blowing from the northeast at a speed of 7 kilometers per hour.

The Meteorological Department predicted  that the maximum temperature during the day can reach 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, due to which the weather will remain intense.

Citizens have been instructed to avoid the sun during the day and consume more water to protect themselves from heatstroke or heat effects.

According to experts, the temperature will feel even higher due to the humidity, while the weather is likely to improve slightly in the evening. However, overall, today will be an extremely hot day for the people of Karachi.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab said that the flow of water in all rivers across Punjab is normal, and water levels in the flood-affected areas are receding significantly.

Director General PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said that rehabilitation efforts in the flood-affected areas are ongoing and surveys to assess and compensate for damages are in progress.

In Sindh, the flood level at the Kotri barrage has begun to drop after attaining the peak flows of more than four thousand twenty hundred cusecs.
