Crackdown against CNG cylinders continues in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The district administration has initiated a crackdown against sub-standard gas cylinders in public transport to make sure the safety of people on roads.
The deputy commissioner has directed both assistant commissioners to carry out the inspection on a daily basis. The administration launched the drive after the CNG cylinder blast in a vehicle on Charsadda Road.
According to details, the campaign has been started in the wake of the provincial government orders. During the drive, AAC Timergara-I Adnan Khan along with SDPO, and Motor Vehicle Examiner checked CNG tanks and kits in a passenger van.
During checking over 50 vehicles were searched among which 12 were found with more than one tank. The concerned team took action against the violators as per law.
During the inspection, a total of 60 transport vehicles were inspected and booked 20 violators. All the drivers have been instructed to install standard CNG Kits and tanks, and that only one CNG Tank was allowed on the lower top portion of the vehicle with proper insulation.
It also ordered drivers to obtain a Fitness Certificate from Regional Transport Authority. Drivers were further directed to fill CNG Tanks before or after the journey, so that the precious lives of passengers may be safeguarded.
