Four people lost their lives and four others were critically injured after being struck by lightning during severe weather in various districts of South Punjab.
According to a spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the tragic incidents took place in Rajanpur and Bahawalpur, where all the victims were residents.
Director-General PDMA expressed profound sorrow over the loss of precious human lives and offered condolences to the bereaved families. He also urged citizens to remain indoors and avoid staying under open skies during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
In a related weather development, heavy rain lashed Thandiani and other hilly areas of Abbottabad, triggering fears of landslides among the residents.
Meanwhile, Islamabad remained under a canopy of clouds with cold winds sweeping through the capital, and the Met Office has forecast more rainfall in the coming hours.
It should be noted that lightning strikes frequently occurred in different parts of Pakistan during heavy rains and thunderstorms.
