In a thrilling encounter, the West Indies clinched a remarkable victory over Pakistan by 120 runs in the second Test match of their two-match series, marking their first win over Pakistan in 35 years.
The match, held in Multan, saw Pakistan fall short in both innings, despite a valiant effort from their lower order. The West Indies, who had been dismissed for 163 in their first innings, made a strong comeback in their second innings, posting 244 all out.
Pakistan, who had scored 154 in response to the West Indies’ first innings total, faced an uphill battle in the second innings, needing 254 runs to win. The Pakistani innings crumbled on day three, as they lost their seventh wicket at 115 runs. Salman Ali Agha, who made 15, was followed by Mohammad Rizwan (25), Noman Ali (6), and Sajid Khan (7), leaving Pakistan all out for 133.
The team had earlier faced setbacks with key players such as Saud Shakil (13), night-watchman Kashif Ali (1), Shan Masood (2), Mohammad Huraira (2), Kamran Ghulam (19), and Babar Azam (31) unable to contribute significantly.
The West Indies, who had a slender 9-run lead at the start of their second innings, capitalized on Pakistan’s struggles, with a solid partnership between Kraigg Brathwaite (52) and Aamer Jangoo, who made 92 runs together. Despite regular wickets falling, contributions from Tevin Imlach (35) and Kevin Sinclair (28) propelled the West Indies to a challenging total of 244. Pakistan’s Nauman Ali and Sajid Khan each claimed four wickets, but it was not enough to stop the West Indies.
