In another positive development, Pakistani exporters secured $3 billion worth export orders at Heimtextil, the world’s largest textile trade fair held in Frankfurt, Germany.
Imran Mehmood, Central Chairman of the All Pakistan Bed-sheets & Upholstery Manufacturers Association (APBUMA), lauded this achievement as a major boost for Pakistan’s textile sector, noting that Faisalabad’s year-round textile operations heavily rely on orders generated at this event.
He also underscored the government’s ambitious target to expand exports from $30 billion to $100 billion over the next five years and urged the implementation of immediate measures to support the sector.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s raw food exports rose by 13.83%, reaching $3.96 billion during the first half of the fiscal year 2024-25, compared to $3.48 billion in the same period the previous year.
This growth was primarily driven by a substantial increase in rice shipments. According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, rice exports, a key contributor to the food export sector, experienced a 14.50% year-on-year growth, amounting to $1.87 billion. Basmati rice exports increased by 30.62% in volume to 416,491 tones, with their value rising by 18.06% to $433.82 million. Non-basmati rice exports also surged, climbing 13.47% in value to $1.44 billion and 17.35% in quantity to 2.643 million tones.
