Pakistan to host inaugural U23 World Squash Championship next year

MM News Staff by MM News Staff
December 2, 2024

The Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) is set to host the inaugural U23 World Squash Championship in 2025.

Scheduled for April 6-10, 2025, the event will feature both men’s and women’s singles tournaments, each comprising 32 players vying for a share of the $60,000 prize pool and crucial PSA ranking points.

As the first-ever championship of its kind, the tournament aims to provide a vital platform for emerging squash talents worldwide. It is designed to bridge the gap between the World Junior Squash Championships and senior-level competitions, offering young players an opportunity to showcase their skills on an international stage.

William Louis-Marie, CEO of the World Squash Federation (WSF), expressed his enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its importance to the sport. “The WSF U23 World Squash Championship represents a significant development for the global squash community,” he said. “It offers rising stars from across the globe a chance to compete against the best, while serving as a critical stepping stone between junior and senior squash.”

This championship also marks Pakistan’s return to hosting major squash events after two decades, with the country last hosting a prominent tournament in 2005.
