Kamran Ghulam on Tuesday became the 13th Pakistani cricketer to score a century on his Test debut against England during the second Test in Multan.
At 29, he is the second-oldest player to achieve this milestone on debut in Test cricket, following Abid Ali in 2019.
Kamran, stepping in for Babar Azam, seized the opportunity early in his innings, reaching his hundred in 192 balls. Overcome with emotion, he was celebrated by the entire Pakistan dressing room, including head coach Jason Gillespie, who rose to applaud his outstanding effort.
Who Is Kamran Ghulam?
Kamran Ghulam began his domestic career in Pakistan with a List A game for Abbottabad Falcons in the 2013 Faysal Bank One Day Cup. At just 17, he made a memorable debut, taking two crucial wickets to secure a win against the Peshawar Panthers. Later in 2013, he made his first-class debut for Abbottabad in Karachi and went on to represent Pakistan in the 2014 U19 Cricket World Cup in the UAE.
Kamran’s career blossomed over prolific seasons for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including a record-breaking performance in the 2020-21 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, where he became the first player to score over 1,000 runs in a single season. In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he has claimed three titles, first with Islamabad United in 2016, and later with Lahore Qalandars under Shaheen Afridi’s leadership in 2022 and 2023.
In January 2023, Kamran finally earned his first international cap in an ODI match against New Zealand in Karachi.
