Four young Pakistani men died due to suffocation while attempting to travel illegally by boat from Mauritania to Spain in search of better job opportunities.
According to reports, they were concealed in the ship’s cargo hold to avoid detection, where they ultimately succumbed to the lack of ventilation.
One of the victims has been identified as Abu Huraira, a resident of Jinnah Colony in Wazirabad, while the identities of the other three remain unconfirmed.
Abu Huraira’s family shared the distressing news, revealing they were informed by the agent who had arranged the voyage.
The agent reportedly explained that the young men were hidden among the cargo to evade authorities, leading to their tragic deaths. Efforts to identify the families of the other deceased men are ongoing.
Earlier, a UN agency reported that on August 26, a migrant boat sank off the coast of Yemen, resulting in the deaths of at least 13 people and leaving 14 missing.
