Former Pakistani actress Zarnish Khan has publicly apologized to Dr. Zakir Naik amid the lack of hospitality in Pakistan and the online backlash following his recent controversial statements.
Dr. Zakir Naik, currently in Pakistan as a state guest, has been delivering speeches at various events. In a recent address, he sparked controversy by asserting, “There is no way an unmarried woman can be respected. So, they have two options. First, get married to a man who already has a wife, or she will become a ‘bazaari aurat’—public property. I don’t have a better word. Any respectable woman would opt for the first option.”
His remarks received widespread condemnation from celebrities and the public.

Another video circulating on social media, posted by Zarnish Khan on her Instagram, shows Dr. Zakir Naik expressing disappointment that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) did not waive charges for his extra baggage on arrival. Zarnish Khan, distressed by the behavior of airport staff and the severe public backlash, took to Instagram to offer her support and apology.
She wrote, “Har cheez main sharminda karna farz samjhti hai hamari qoum. Shame on us. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Sharam ka moqam hai. I humbly apologize to Dr. Zakir Naik.” (This nation should hang its head in shame. I humbly apologize.)
Zarnish Khan, who left the entertainment industry for religious reasons, is no longer involved in showbiz.
