The University of Karachi awarded an honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree to renowned religious preacher Dr Zakir Naik during a special convocation held at the Governor House in Karachi.
Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori and Vice Chancellor of the varsity Khalid Mehmood Iraqi conferred the PhD degree upon Dr Zakir Naik on Wednesday evening.
The special convocation ceremony was attended by faculty members of the University of Karachi, members of the syndicate, and consuls general from various countries.
During his speech at the convocation ceremony, Kamran Tessori said, “Dr Zakir Naik has delivered thousands of lectures across the globe and participated in numerous debates. This honorary degree is a recognition of his invaluable services. I congratulate him on receiving this doctorate and have full confidence that he will continue his work with the same dedication.”
Dr Naik arrived in Islamabad on October 1 at the invitation of the Pakistani government. He is currently in Karachi for a 10-day visit, during which he will meet with prominent figures in the city.
