Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated a groundbreaking initiative, “Maryam Ki Masihaai,” aimed at providing free treatment and life-saving surgeries for children suffering from heart conditions.
This ambitious program is set to benefit more than 5,000 children annually, offering hope to thousands of families across Punjab and beyond.
During the official launch of the initiative, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz distributed ‘Child Surgery Cards’ to young patients, ensuring that no child in need is denied treatment. If government hospitals are unable to accommodate, surgeries will be facilitated at private hospitals to ensure timely medical care.
In the first phase of the program, heart surgeries for children will be available at six major government hospitals, including the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and Children’s Hospital in Lahore, Children’s and PIC hospitals in Multan, as well as Cardiology Institutes in Faisalabad and Rawalpindi. As the program progresses, the second phase will expand services to hospitals in Wazirabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Sargodha, further broadening the reach of this lifesaving initiative.
An online dashboard will be established for the real-time monitoring and management of the “Children’s Heart Surgery Program,” ensuring transparency and efficiency in the delivery of medical services.
While addressing the audience at the inauguration ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz expressed her deep personal connection to the cause. She stated, “This initiative is not just something I’m launching as a chief minister, but as a mother, with the pure aim of alleviating the suffering of young patients.”
This initiative marks the first of its kind in Pakistan, focusing solely on free heart surgeries for children. It is not limited to Punjab; children from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other provinces will also be eligible for treatment under this compassionate program, setting a new precedent for healthcare in the country.
By providing critical surgeries and advanced treatment options, “Maryam Ki Masihaai” stands as a beacon of hope, ensuring that children across the region receive the care they need, regardless of their financial situation.
