The second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, initially scheduled to take place in Karachi, has been relocated to Rawalpindi.
According to reports, the first Test will begin on August 21, followed by the second Test on August 30.
The relocation was necessitated by ongoing construction work at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium in preparation for the Champions Trophy.
The reports said this decision was made after consulting with construction experts and all relevant stakeholders.
While the Karachi Test was to be held without spectators, cricket fans will now have the opportunity to watch both Test matches live in Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Shaheens and Bangladesh A series will continue as planned in Islamabad.
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled the revamped design of Karachi’s National Stadium, one of the key venues for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The redesign is part of a larger renovation effort across major cricketing venues in the country, with the first phase set to be completed before the Champions Trophy kicks off on February 19, 2025.
According to the PCB, the renovation will be carried out in two phases. The initial phase, focusing on structural upgrades, is targeted for completion ahead of the tournament. The second phase, which includes roofing the entire stadium, will be finalized post-tournament.
