Pakistan’s Ministry of Human Rights has launched the “Awaz” mobile application to facilitate the reporting of missing children and human rights violations nationwide.
The ministry asserts that this new tool will ensure a “quick and coordinated response” from authorities to address these issues effectively.
The Awaz App allows users to report various human rights violations, including missing or abducted children, an official from the Ministry of Human Rights said on Sunday.
The app promises a rapid and organized response from both authorities and community organizations. The official emphasized that the introduction of the Awaz App marks a significant step in the ministry’s commitment to human rights. “We are proud to launch the Awaz App as part of our ongoing effort to use technology for prompt and effective responses to every report, ensuring justice with unwavering determination,” he said. The app is currently available for download on Android, with an iOS version expected soon.
According to a report by the Pakistani NGO Sahil, there were 1,833 reported cases of child abduction across the country in 2023, with 105 (6%) of these cases involving sexual abuse after abduction.
