Actor, writer, and director Yasir Hussain has faced a wave of criticism from netizens following his suggestion that “adult content” should be legalized in Pakistan to boost government revenue.
Married to renowned Pakistani actress Iqra Aziz and father to their son, Hussain, known for his role in the popular comedy “Karachi Se Lahore”, has a history of stirring controversies.
During a recent appearance on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Hussain proposed that legalizing and regulating adult content could be financially beneficial for the country. He argued, “People who seek out adult content will find it regardless, so the government should regulate and profit from it.”
He also made a provocative remark, saying, “Pakistan and Saudi Arabia compete annually to be the top porn-watching countries.”
Critics took to social media to express their disapproval. One user questioned, “Wth! Is he out of his mind or something?” Another commented, “Just because people are addicted to it, the government should legalize it. Wow. What a statement.” Others accused him of seeking attention with controversial remarks.
Amid the backlash, Yasir Hussain clarified that he does not actually support the legalization of pornography.
