Pakistan’s tallest man, Zia Rasheed, passed away in Vehari at the age of 30 after a prolonged illness, as reported on Tuesday.
A large crowd, including numerous social and political figures, gathered to pay their respects at his funeral.
Zia Rasheed was recognized as Pakistan’s tallest man at the age of 15. However, by the age of 20, he began experiencing pain due to a knee-related disease. His condition worsened over the years, exacerbated by financial constraints and the government’s failure to provide adequate medical care. He endured years of suffering without the necessary treatment.
Rasheed had repeatedly appealed to the government for financial assistance for his medical treatment. His situation deteriorated further after a fall from the stairs last year, which intensified his pain and worsened his existing illness, leading to his untimely death.
In an interview with APP in December 2018, Rasheed mentioned that he was undergoing taekwondo training for fitness and self-defense. Despite completing his Matriculation, he faced significant challenges in continuing his education due to financial limitations and travel difficulties.
Standing at eight feet and three inches tall, Zia Rasheed believed he was the world’s second tallest man.
