Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has introduced Kisan Cards in the province to support agriculture by providing farmers with various incentives, including loans and agricultural appliances.
Farmers in the province can obtain the Kisan card under the following conditions:
- Farmers with land ranging from one to 12.5 acres are eligible for the card.
- Applicants must not have defaulted on any loans from banks or financial institutions.
- The card facilitates farmers to purchase quality seeds and fertilizers up to Rs. 150,000 per crop.
- Loans must be repaid within six months without interest. Failure to do so will incur an additional 29% penalty.
- Required documents include photocopies of the farmer’s CNIC, legal heir’s CNIC, land record Fard, a fee of Rs. 1000, and a bank account.
During a high-level meeting on Tuesday, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz instructed the authorities to ensure that Kisan cards are distributed solely on merit. She emphasized transparency throughout the application process.
