ISLAMABAD: Russian Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nikolai Anatolyevich on Wednesday arrived in Pakistan and met with his counterpart Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi in Islamabad.
Upon arrival, the Russian naval chief was warmly received by Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi and a ceremonial guard was presented with military honours to the Russian Naval Chief on the occasion. The meeting was held in Naval Headquarters Islamabad.

Navy Spokesperson further Pakistan’s Naval Chief welcomed Admiral Nikolai Anatolyevich Yevmenov on his arrival and accorded him with guard of honour.
The Russian admiral laid a wreath of flowers on martyrs memorial and was introduced to the Principal Staff Officers. The meeting discussed issues of mutual interest, moreover; including cooperation between the two countries naval forces.
Naval chief highlighted Pakistan’s role in ensuring maritime security. The Navy spokesperson said Admiral Abbasi also pointed Pakistan’s role for ensuring peace in the region and fighting against terrorism.
Russian naval chief appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Navy in regard to maritime security and stability in the region. The Russian naval chief was also briefed on ongoing Kashmir crisis as well.

The visit of the Russian naval commander-in-chief will further enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially the Navy.
Earlier, Admiral Zafar Abbasi met with the Saudi Commander of Naval forces in Saudi Arabia. Admiral Zafar Abbasi attended a defense forum as the chief guest.
The forum included a series of lectures and panel discussions by speakers from various Think Tanks. Naval Commanders from around 13 countries attended the event.
The event also included an exhibition of the latest technologies, equipment and systems in the marine environment. The forum encompassed regional maritime security concepts, threats, and opportunities in global context.
The defense forum also encompassed increasing capacity for countering emerging threats and tackling future challenges in the maritime industry.
