ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat on Saturday accused Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz of orchestrating an assassination plot against him.
Addressing journalists outside parliament house, he alleged that the inaugural female chief minister of Punjab had allegedly engaged “contract killers” to target him.
Expanding on his accusation, he asserted that the plot to assassinate him wasn’t merely a verbal threat but had concrete financial dealings. According to him, ‘Maryam’ had allegedly sanctioned a payment for the nefarious scheme, with the transaction purportedly occurring in Dubai.
The PTI leader maintained that evidence of the chief minister’s purported involvement surfaced through intercepted telephone conversations, which he intended to present to pertinent investigative authorities.
Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has called upon former PTI legislator Shandana Gulzar, who has leveled accusations against Maryam Nawaz.
Following a complaint lodged by the PML-N against Gulzar, the FIA has commenced an investigation into the weighty allegations.
Reacting to the intensifying situation, Punjab’s Information Minister Uzma Bukhari insisted that Gulzar furnish solid evidence to support her claims. Bukhari underscored that the administration would not permit her to evade scrutiny.
