The role of the establishment in politics cannot be ignored because they are players who manipulate the real game using the faces of politicians.
If your political party appears to be popular, you can grab as many seats as you want and remain silent. The party competing against you will get seats based on margins, not the people, the establishment decides it all.
For the past 76 years, the people of Pakistan have consistently thought that their vote has power and that it decides who becomes the Prime Minister. However, in 2018 the former captain of the cricket team was made the Prime Minister, and everyone was surprised.
If only Imran Khan had been made the Prime Minister, it would have been a different story. However, members of the PTI, who had become assembly members without any effort for the election campaign and had no knowledge of the PTI workers on the ground, also sat in the assembly.
Then things happened as they usually do. New power often brings in imports just like many members of the PTI did during the election campaign. They stopped answering calls from the workers on the ground, stopped listening to their complaints, and ceased to make decisions or resolutions, indicating that they were too busy.
The members of the National Assembly who were elected started going to Islamabad, but there was no immediate action for the people. And when Imran Khan was removed from power, it became evident that what Captain had said about becoming dangerous if removed came true.
Yesterday, the President of the country, Dr. Arif Alvi, during an interview with an American media outlet, mentioned that contact with Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq is mostly related to official matters. When Imran Khan was the Prime Minister, there was also less talk about personal matters.
President Dr. Arif Alvi said that there were many reasons for the failure of the understanding between Imran Khan and the army, which he did not want to go into detail about. Imran Khan has cases against him in the courts, and my trust is in the judiciary as the President.
The biggest question here is why there was a need for an understanding between Imran Khan and the army. Was there a conflict between Imran Khan and the army? Because ignorance has been expressed by both the PTI and the Pakistani army on this matter.
The army has made it clear that they will not have a role in our politics, and the statements against the army by Imran Khan were specifically against certain generals, especially former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
In April 2022, Imran Khan was removed from the position of Prime Minister. Shahbaz Sharif became the Prime Minister, and no one criticized his policies. The only achievement of the PML-N government was some reconciliation with the IMF, which averted the threat of default.
During Shahbaz Sharif’s tenure, there was an inflation storm in Pakistan, and the reason for Imran Khan was that during the PTI tenure, there was a deviation from the agreements made with the IMF, and then the IMF gave such strict conditions to Pakistan that these conditions are not visible even today.
Many other questions are also in the minds of the people. For example, how was Anwar ul Haq made Prime Minister, while initially, news in Pakistani media mentioned other names, including former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar? Anwar ul Haq’s name is nowhere to be found.
However, the reality is that who will become the Prime Minister? When will the general elections take place? Who will be included in the federal cabinet? How many seats will each party get, and which party will be put against the wall, all these monkeying and tumultuous activities are carried out by some unnoticed hands, the same unnoticed hands mentioned earlier.
