NEW DELHI: Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has opened up about her first meeting with former Pakistan cricket team captain Shoaib Malik.
Speaking about how she met her future husband, the tennis ace spilled the beans in an interview with India Today. Mirza revealed that she had known the cricket champ but fate had to intervene to bring them together.

“We knew each other socially and then we bumped into each other at a restaurant in Hobart where you don’t even see animals/birds after 6 pm, forget people. Must’ve been destiny that we met over there to be very honest.
“Only later I realized that he had actually planned to come to the restaurant because I was there. I was giving destiny all the credit but it was clearly not.”

She said that she thought that only destiny had a role to play in their marriage but the Pakistani cricketer had actually planned the meeting.
“Must’ve been destiny that we met over there to be very honest. Only later I realized that he had actually planned to come to the restaurant because I was there. I was giving destiny all the credit but it was clearly not,” she added.
The couple walked the aisle together back in April 2010, in India’s Hyderabad following a reception ceremony in Malik’s hometown Sialkot.
They welcomed their first child in October last year, a boy named Izhan Mirza Malik.
